You may have seen many movies and played many games with time-crossing motifs. But I am sure that you have never played any game in which you came to the situation: the time machine went down (for a no-more-dull reason). Accidentally becoming a person “patching” the time machine and restoring broken timelines and guiding the most powerful civilizations in human history, can you do it well?

To do that, AdVenture Ages will take you on a journey through civilizations. Helping others is helping you. After completing your lead for a civilization to come back in the right direction, you will receive bonus points and items to return to upgrade your time machine. Your final destination is when the time machine has been fixed and you are back in your own era. But before you get there…

You will go through the most golden periods of the earth: Bronze, Middle Ages, Renaissance, Industrialization, Atomization… and slowly read through interesting information about these, along with other Historical milestones which mark the transformation of humanity. You will even have the opportunity to meet and coordinate with important historical heroes to restore resources and preserve the population of that era. Fixing a bug in the timeline has added a segment to your return path.

The gameplay is pure, and the interface does not seem to be related to the plot

To be honest, I was a bit surprised when I started playing AdVenture Ages. The feeling is actually a bit difficult to describe, a little bit sympathetic but also strange, understanding but also confused. Why? Let me continue.

You are in the future world, obviously. So, all the interfaces in the game show up very neatly the future with machines, details, items, and scores on the screen. Do not expect epic 3D scenes or super-fighting heroes to rebuild civilization. All of the ideas behind AdVenture Ages are symbolic for the screen full of numbers and data you’re seeing while entering the game.

The game will in turn give short instructions, only you need to add and buy some necessary things to prepare for the landing at a certain Time and fix a part for the time machine. Sometimes, there will be an announcement that you will have a chance to meet some important historical figures. Try to talk to them as much as possible to find clues about the item to collect for each scene. Then you return to the first simple blue screen. 

Your only simple operation is just to touch and select. Over. But to choose in which order and quantity will depend on the thinking and playing style of each person.

At this point, I wish the game’s interface was a bit softer, more profound, and had a brief story about the eras. Hope that the manufacturer will see and upgrade this point so it may be easier to create more excitement for players.

Graphics and background music

AdVenture Ages uses 2D graphics in modern western animation style. The main character and historical figures are both carefully detailed and eye-catching. The items and materials that you need to collect to correct the times or fix the time machine are a bit small, in my opinion. Especially when you play more and more, this number of items is much bigger, which makes the player feel a bit confused. However, each item is sophisticatedly designed and has clear and attractive lines.

The sound is also a surprise. The background music without lyrics is quite youthful and lively, creating a sense of excitement and joy for the player. However, it is not customized for each era we go through and there is no sound specifically designed for each item collected. In general, according to my assessment, it is okay, not too special.
